Katherine Anne Ray, 60, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away January 14, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH, following a sudden illness. She was born March 5, 1951, in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Milford Ira and Iva Addie Painter Parsons. Katherine was a 1969 graduate of Parkersburg High School and later obtained her Masters Degree from Mountain State College. She was employed and later retired from the Bureau of Public Debt as an administrative assistant. Katherine had a zest for life and lived hers to the fullest. She enjoyed many things like scrapbooking, quilting, stamping, drawing, and card making. She held a talent for genealogy and was the Parsons family historian for many years. Most of all, she loved the time spent traveling to her Kentucky lake house with her family where she could fish and be with the ones she loved. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.Surviving is her loving husband, John A. Ray, who she married February 4, 1984; two daughters, Jessica M. and Jamie A. Ray both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sons, John M. Ray (Melissa) of Statesboro, GA and Jason A. Ray of Baltimore, Maryland; one sister, Nancy Parsons of Fayetteville, NC; four grandchildren, Brittany and Caleb Ray also of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Karen and Stephen Strickland of Statesboro, GA; and one niece, Fonda McCray also of Fayetteville, NC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, M. Alan Parsons. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday January 19, 2012 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Reverend Gregory Collins officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
