Our beautiful mother and wife, Joyce Ann Stavrakis 76, fulfilled her life on Earth and left to take her place in Heaven on September 8, 2011. She passed away bravely at home in the arms of her husband and presence of her four children.Joyce was born on November 12, 1934, the seventh of fourteen children born to the late Cal and Quinnie Milam of Montcoal, W.Va. She was married on May 24, 1952 in Oak Hill, W.Va. to Mitchell M. Stavrakis of Whitesville, W.Va.Family was the most important thing in her life and she dearly loved her husband, daughters, sons, grandsons, granddaughters, great grandson, brothers and sisters.Mom touched many lives during her time and will be remembered for her Christian beliefs and how she helped others, especially the less fortunate.Mom's work revolved around her talent for cooking, starting with her mother-in-law, Addie at the Homestead Restaurant, Whitesville, W.Va. Later at the Frozen Camp Elementary School, Senior Citizen Center, Meals on Wheels and Head Start all in the Jackson County, W.Va. area.She enjoyed participating in various clubs and activities that centered around her children; including Brownies, Cub Scouts and 4H. Mom liked to attend her sons High School football games, watch W.V.U. football and Nascar races.She was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church where she was formerly a Sunday School teacher and Youth Fellowship leader.She retired to Oak Hill, Fl. with her husband for 10 years, then returned to W.Va. to spend more time with her family. Mom worked hard to provide extra for her children, budgeting her family dollars wisely.We all love and will miss her,see you in Heaven Mom.Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Mitchell M. Stavrakis, daughter; Debbie Moore of Vienna, W.Va., granddaughters; Jamie Scott and Abby Moore; grandson; Mitchell Scott and great-grandson Jadon Scott.Daughter; Becky Postalwait and husband Elmer, of Charleston, WV. step-grandsons; Nathan and Josh.Son; James M. Stavrakis and wife Melissa Billy Stavrakis, granddaughter; Aelissa Roo of Vienna, WV.Son; John A. Stavrakis and wife Lora Suek Stavrakis, grandsons; Aaron, Corey and Evan Stavrakis of Vienna, WV.Brothers; Harold Milam, Medina, Ohio, Roy Milam, Kopperston, WV. and Paul Milam, Charleston, WV.Sisters; June Thompson of Berea, Ohio, Shirley Kessel of Given, W.Va., Alice Spangler of Whitesville, WV., Mary Ferrell of Kentucky and Pat Bussel ofDenham Springs, La.She was proceded in death by her parents, sisters; Fran Coleman andBootsie Freeman and brothers; James, Bill and Jerry Milam.Funeral Services will be heldMonday, September 12, 2011 at 11:00 with the Reverend Herman Robinson presiding at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna. W.Va. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in South Charleston, W.Va.
