John Sheridan “Jack” Roush, 51, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus. He was born August 6, 1961 in Parkersburg, W.Va. a son of the late Paul Leighton Roush Jr., and Alice Sheridan Roush. Jack graduated from Belpre High School and attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and Parkersburg Community College. Jack was a former owner of The Hill House in Parkersburg for 18 years. He managed The Cracker Barrel in Mineral Wells; was owner of First Settlement Restaurant in Marietta; and was manager of Applebees in Marietta and Vienna. He was a 3rd degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Parkersburg. Jack was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Parkersburg and was a candidate in the Permanent Diaconate Formation Program of the Wheeling/Charleston Diocese. He was a former president of the P.T.O. at Parkersburg Catholic Elementary School. Jack was very community minded and is still a candidate for Mayor of Vienna. Jack is survived by his wife, Melinda L. Epling Roush, whom he married in 1986; two daughters, Sheridan Mae Roush of Beijing, China and Leighton Ann Epling Roush of Vienna; two sons, John Anthony “Tony” Roush (Emily) of Morgantown and Dryden Louis Roush of the home; two sisters, Jennie Antes (Jim) of Hudson, Ohio and Sarah Bento (Mike) of Toledo, Ohio; mother-in-law, Rose Epling of Roane County, W.Va.; his aunt, Ann Scott of Parkersburg, his aunt, Sharon Sheridan of Williamstown, and his aunt and uncle, Peggy and Jeff Sheridan of Parkersburg; his brother and sister-in-law, O.B. and Renee Epling of Belpre, Ohio; and several nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Paul and Norma Sheridan; his paternal grandparents, Paul Leighton Roush, Sr. and Edith Roush; his uncle, Jim Sheridan; and a brother-in-law. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 5, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Parkersburg, W.Va. with Father Neil Buchlein and Father Edward Bell officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna where rosary service will be 8:30 P.M. Sunday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Schrader Youth Ballet, P.O.Box 292, Parkersburg, W.Va. 26102. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
