A Video Tribute to John is now available on this site. The link is below John's picture.John William Hall, Jr., 88, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away October 7, 2012 at his residence. He was born December 23, 1923, in Shinnston, W.Va., a son of the late John William Sr. and Henrietta Loiseau Hall. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He received his teaching degree from Glenville State College and his graduate degree from West Virginia University. He eventually completed his academic career in Riverside, California, where he completed his doctorate coursework. He taught school in both W.Va. and California and was also a self-employed business owner in Wood County, W.Va. John's favorite pastime was watching and caring for his wildlife: the beautiful birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and other creatures of the universe. Surviving are his “kids”, Tamara L. Rhodes and Anthony K. Rhodes and wife, Brenda; his grandchildren, Brian A. Nichols, Gregory A. Rhodes, Brandon M. Rhodes, Alyssa K. Morris, and Jeremy K. Rhodes; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, Matilda. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise in the early 1950's; his second wife, Carolyn in the year 2005; and his loving canine companions, Britches, Kinky, and Lucky. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 13, 2012 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. Entombment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
