On September 12, 2011 Joan Marie Roberson of Vienna, West Virginia was called home peacefully with family at her side. Joan has been surrounded with the love of her children, sisters and family during her last days. Joan was preceded in passing by her husband, Robert Edward Roberson of Columbia, South Carolina and leaves behind a son, Adam Roberson and his wife, Margaret Roberson of Elgin, South Carolina; and two daughters, Laura Urruty and her husband, Joel Urruty of Hickory, North Carolina and Jolee and Brad Loeber of Marietta, Ohio. Joan was blessed with seven grandchildren, Zackary Loeber, Joelle Loeber, Hunter Roberson, Madeline Roberson, Reagan Loeber, Lea Urruty and Felix Urruty. Joan was born to Lester Lincoln and Miraim Hayes in Binghamton New York. Joan's childhood was spent exploring the mountains and streams in the Birchardville Township nestled in the Endless Mountain area of Pennsylvania. Joan had one brother and five sisters. Joan leaves behind her brother, George Hayes of Friendsville, Pennsylvania; sisters, Barbara Murphy of Tampa, Florida; Priscilla Ellis of Choconut, Pennsylvania; Edith Brigham of Laceyville, Pennsylvania and Dorothy Joyce of Vienna, West Virginia. Joan's sister Judy Maloney departed this life while living near the family home of Birchardville.Joan attended Wheaton College where she met her beloved husband Robert Roberson. Joan was admired for her energy, wit and constant creativity throughout her life. She was a wonderful listener, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Joan watched her children grow, marry and have families of their own. Although they did not live in Vienna, Joan was the strength of the family and would regularly receive her children and grandchildren at her home where she always wore a smile and had her arms open. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with private graveside services to conclude at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Sumter Highway,Columbia, SC.
