James Louis Rector, 87, of Vienna , W.Va. , passed away on June 16, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Erie , Penn. , a son of the late George and Ethel Fax Rector. James was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army where he obtained the rank of Lt. Colonel and was presented the Bronze and Silver Star and the Purple Heart.He was a graduate of Purdue University earning a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering.He began working at E.I. Dupont in 1948 and had over 50 years of service as a Mechanical Engineer.He held numerous patents for industrial and sporting goods products andenjoyed fishing and fished all over North and South America . He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marie Meissner Rector; three sons, Lee J. (Debi) Rector of Live Oak, Fla. , Larry J. Rector of Silver Springs , Fla. and Louis J. Rector of Indian Rocks Beach , Fla. ; three grandchildren, Christopher Rector of Sacramento , Calif. , Jamie Rector of Bradenton , Fla. and Travis Rector of Parkersburg , W.Va. ; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Fax Rector; and one sister, Norma Rector. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Vienna will be assisting the family with arrangements.At the family's request there will be no visitation or services.
