James H. Leonard, 80, of Waverly, W.Va. passed away Sept 4th,2012.He was born March 29, 1932 in Ritchie County, W.Va. a son of the late John Wesley and Alma Ethel Barker Leonard.He was employed at O Ames Co. of Parkersburg, W.Va. when he entered the U.S. Army in January 1952 serving in the Korean War.After his discharge from the Army he returned to work at the O Ames Co. for over 40 years as foreman in the handle department. He also worked for H&R Block. He was involved with the Boy Scouts when his sons were young, serving as assistant scout leader for several years.He is survived by his wife, Ruth V. Lemley Leonard of Waverly, W.Va.; two sons, Wade (Robbi) Leonard of Waverly, W.Va. and Kevin (Charlene) Leonard of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Melinda (Leo) Sprouse of Waverly, W.Va. and Pamela (John) Rost of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two grandsons, James L. and Joseph M. Leonard of Cincinnati, OH; two granddaughters, Christina (Jan) Smetana and Amanda Sprouse of Parkersburg W.Va; great-grandson, Ryan Smetana; two great-granddaughters, Cadence Sprouse and Alyssa Smetana; six sisters, Mary Haney, Irene Tanner, Pat (Jim) Sayre, Ruth Cochenour, Kay (Auttie) Hendricks and Diane Cunningham; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John W. Leonard Jr. and Joseph S. Leonard; and one sister, Wilma Carole Sprouse.Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday Sept. 7, 2012 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va., with Rev. Bud Corbin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
