James H. Cottrill, 79, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013.Jim was born on September 20, 1933 in Parkersburg, W.Va. a son of the late Harley and Michie Davis Cottrill. Jim was in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957 aboard the USS Wisconsin. He retired from E.I. DuPont in 1992 with 33 years of service. Jim was a 50-year member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge 172 AF&AM; a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason; a member of Ben Bey Grotto; a member of the American Legion Post #15, Parkersburg; and an honorary member of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Ann Bennett Cottrill; his daughters, Judith See (Rick) and Joyce Halley (Mark); and his son, James Cottrill. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Belinda Richards (Anthony), Andrew Bobier (Janice), Daniel Bobier (Angie), Rachel Halley and Justin Halley (Kim); five great-grandchildren, James Bobier, Chace Richards, Savanna and Sydney Hamilton and Ashlyn Halley; and his best friend, David Combs.Preceding him in death are sisters, Gladys Foraker, Nelle Crout and Donna Dawkins; a brother, Francis Cottrill; and his beloved dog, Josey.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, W.Va. with Reverend Russell Wooten officiating and with military rites by American Legion Post #15 of Parkersburg. Burial will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
