James Walter Boone

James Walter Boone, 87 of Rockport, W.Va., passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Camden-Clark MEdical Center, Memorial Campus. He was born March 11, 1924, a son of the late Okey and Georgia Marple Boone. James was a US Army Veteran having served in WWII, was employed with Associated Transport for 20 years and retired from Carl E. Smith Inc. in 1989. He was a member of the Gihon Tabernacle Church for over 30 years and was a part of the Big Tygart United Methodist Church family since 2000. He was a faithful Christian and devoted to his family.Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Shirley Rhodes Boone of Rockport, W.Va.; two sons, J. Michael Boone of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Stephen Lee Boone and wife Tonia of Washington, W.Va.; one daughter, Debra Kay Weekley of Petersburg, VA.; six grandchildren, Jason M. Boone and wife Amy, Mandy Dawn Foley, Stephen James Boone and wife Christy, Vickie Lynn Lamp and husband Nathan, Jacob Lee Boone, andMichael Shane Maston II; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brady, Jake, Dade and Olivia; his sisters, Garnet Davis of Mansfield, Ohio, Mildred Brown and Imogene Davis both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and one brother, Okey Boone, Jr. of Parkersburg, W.Va.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Hugh, Glen, Hayward, and Cleedith Boone.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Jeffrey Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by the American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
