James Bert Arbogast

Rev. James B. Arbogast, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va., was carried by the angels to meet our Lord and Savior on Jan. 7, 2013 at The Arbors of Marietta in Marietta, Ohio.He was born August 11, 1927, in Thornwood, W.Va., a son of the late Parker and Rella Waybright Arbogast.He was a graduate of Green Bank High School in Green Bank, W.Va., West Virginia Wesleyan College, and he attended Wesley Seminary in Washington, D.C.He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer.He entered the United Methodist Ministry in 1957 and served at the Volga United Methodist Charge in Volga, W.Va., the Stonewall United Methodist Church in Stonewood, W.Va., the Bethany United Methodist Church of Parkersburg, the St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Nitro, W.Va., and the Pettyville United Methodist Church of Pettyville, W.Va. and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.He was a 33rd Degree Mason with Masonic Lodge #172, Vienna and was involved with many religious, civic and Masonic groups.He retired from the United Methodist Conference in 1992 and from the West Virginia Masonic Home as Superintendent in 2004.He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rheba V. Hoffman Arbogast; two daughters, Suellen (Lynn) Dodrill and Sherry Lynn (Dana) LeMasters, both of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Matthew S. Dodrill of Parkersburg and Lisa Marie (Corey) Kruk of Ravenswood, W.Va.; and twin great-granddaughters, Holly and Hanna Kruk.Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Rev. Norman Butler and Pastor Mike Broadwater officiating.Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Elkins Memorial Gardens, Elkins, W.Va.Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
