Jack Lee Monroe, Sr. 78 of Okeechobee, Fla. and Vienna, W.Va.,passed away April 1, 2011.He was born in Looneyville, Roane County, W.Va. the son of the late Smith Monroe and Dora Myers Monroe.A beloved husband and devoted father, veteran of the Korean Conflict. A successful businessman and owner of JM Lumber, Inc., in Port St. Lucie.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Burner Monroe; three children, Carl (Janet) Monroe of Okeechobee, Fla., Jack (Debbie) Monroe of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Kimberly Thorn and her husband Tim of Vienna; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brothers, Bill Monroe (Wilma) of Wick, W.Va., and Gordon Monroe (Patricia)of Vienna; his sisters, Mae Crislip of Vienna, Ethel Harris (Glenn) of Vienna, Dorothy Bowen (Brad) ofLake Placid, Fla., and Mary Long (Don) of Denver, NC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Smith Preston Monroe & Dora Monroe; his brother Edward and his niece, Katrina Mooney.He loved spending time with his family and Nascar.Funeral Services will be Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11:00 am. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Pastor John Douglas officiating.Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm.Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg,W.Va.
