Homer Eugene Mccullough

May 18, 1929 — April 13, 2020

Heaven just got a little Brighter today. Homer Eugene McCullough, 90 of Belpre, Ohio, passed away April 13, 2020 at WVU Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV, quietly in his sleep after a long, fulfilling life. He never met a stranger and everyone who ever met him was eager to call him friend. His true passion was his family who he always made time for and everyone depended on him as a problem solver. He was born May 18, 1929 to Curtis and Myrtle McCullough in Moundsville, WV in the WV State Penitentiary. The reason for his birth there, was the county doctor was in another part of the county when it was time for him to be delivered and was unavailable. His mother was taken into the prison and the prison doctor did the delivery. He is the last of five siblings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Schweikert McCullough. He graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1945 and enlisted in the Army where he served in Japan during the occupation after World War II. Upon his return from the war he went to work for the F.B.I. in the Fingerprint Division in Washington, D.C. He then moved to Akron, Ohio and attended Kent State University and worked at Firestone Rubber Company, He then returned back to Parkersburg, WV and began working for the B&O Railroad where he met his wife, Mary Miller. They had two children; son, Danny and his wife, Cathy of Wilmington, NC; and daughter, Pam Joy and her fiancée Jeff Wilson of Parkersburg, WV. He worked for Fairmont Foods until their closing and then joined Johns Manville until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW, former 5th District Commander, life member of the American Legion and a 32nd Degree Master Mason in Vienna Lodge #172. He will be greatly missed by all who ever shared his touch. He loved the Lord and finally this week he will hear the words he longed for, “Well done my good and faithful servant, enter into the house of the Lord.” Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg is assisting the family. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic there will be no visitation or services at this time. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience.
