Hobert Lee Prunty

Reverend Hobert Lee Prunty 87, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away June 23, 2014 at the WVU Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.He was born March 26, 1927 in Orton, W.Va., a son of the late Minter G. and ViolaMae Heckart Prunty.Hobert graduated from Troy High School, Glenville State College and the United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army as an MP in the European Theater. Hobert was a retired Methodist Minister serving churches in Illinois and West Virginia. He attended The Salvation Army Church and taught Sunday School and Bible Study and also taught Junior High for 11 years in West Virginia.He is survived by his second wife, Winoma Spurgeon; two sons, Jeremiah Prunty of Milwaukee, WI, and Kenna Prunty (Sandy) of Ft. Mills, SC.; two brothers, Minter G. Jr. of Middlefield, Ohio and Ronald Prunty of Hadley, Ma.; two sisters, Mary Dutton of Austinburg, Ohio and Marie Harasyn of Camden, SC.; grandchildren, Zachary Prunty, Jason Prunty and Tonya Hart; great-grandchildren, Emily, Natlie and Abigal Prunty.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Marie Jones Prunty; five brothers, Gail, Ardith, Otho, Donald and Richard; three sisters, Gwendolyn Stout, Evelyn Cooper and Maxine McCullough; and an infant sister, Minoka Prunty.Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Wayside United Methodist Church, Vienna, W.Va. with Reverend Harold Slate officiating. Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery, Walton, W.Va. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the services Friday at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 534 5th St. Parkersburg, WV, 26101 in memory of Hobert..
