Hester Mae Riel 85, of Belpre, Ohio entered into Heaven.She was born October 1, 1928 in Walker, WV, a daughter of the late Marlin and Hila Goff Modesitt. Hester was the last member of the Modesitt family. Hester was a retired nurse and had previously worked at the Malta Doors and Window Company. She was a published poet, an artist,and she loved birds and butterflies. Hester was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Parkersburg. Hester is survived by her husband, Samuel Junior Riel; her adopted daughter, Dianna James and husband Earl; her step-daughter, Victoria Riel; her step-son, John Riel; her sister-in-law, Juanita Modesitt of Decherd, Tenn.; over 40 nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gerald and Karen Hill of Macksburg, Ohio, Vern and Shirley Luzadar of Cutler, Ohio, Marvin and Nancy Sams of Belpre, and Homer “Gene” McCullough of Belpre.Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 1305 Washington Blvd., Belpre, Ohio with Pastor Earl James officiating. Interment will follow at the Torch Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
