Herbert L. Ubbens

Herbert L. Ubbens, 72, of Harrisville, W.Va. passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, W.Va.Herb was born in New York, NY on February 12, 1941. Although Herb had a promising baseball career, he decided to enlist in the U.S. Army and served his country overseas. Herb is preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Regan-Ubbens; second wife, Patricia Caldwell Ubbens; and third wife, Susan Haught Ubbens.Herb is survived by his three children, Herbert Ubbens, Jr. and his wife, Mellissa Ubbens of Cary, North Carolina, Brett Ubbens and his wife, Kelly Ubbens of Vienna, W.Va., and Tara Ubbens of Cary, North Carolina. Herb is also survived by his grandchildren, Skyler and Allie Ubbens of Cary, NC., Ansley Joan Ubbens of Vienna, W.Va., as well as Brittany and Andrew Dobbins of Harrisville, W.Va. In addition Herb is survived by step-children, Annalisa Dobbins, Kathy McDonald, Carol Haught, Jr., Calvin Haught, Ray Haught and Cheryl Caldwell-Young as well as being preceded in death by two step-sons, Carlos Haught and Richard Haught.Herb was an entrepreneur by nature, owning various companies including an aquarium, chemical company, painting/contracting company, sports memorabilia and candy company.The family requests donations be made to The Good Samaritan Clinic, 418 Grand Park Drive, Parkersburg, WV. 26101There will be no visitation or services. Burial of Mr. Ubbens will be at the convenience of the family. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
