Gene Henry Simmons, 86 of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Camden Clark Medical Center – Memorial Campus. He was born February 8, 1926 in Williamstown, W.Va., a son of the late William G. and Ida M. Simmons. Gene retired in 1992 from Storck Bakery after 49 years of service and was a member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ, in Belpre, Ohio. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Shirley Florence Chamberlain Simmons; two sons, Ronnie L. Simmons and wife, Patricia of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Jeffrey W. Simmons and wife, Julie of Cross Lanes, W.Va.;one brother, William Simmons of Arkansas; one sister, Bessie Gomez of Clearwater, Fla; and three grandchildren, Jordan and Joshua Simmons and Jessica Street all of Cross Lanes, W.Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Simmons. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Ralph Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
