Helen M Wolverton

Helen M. Wolverton, 86, of Old Turnpike Rd., passed away from complications following surgery at Charleston Area Medical Center on January 17, 2012.She was born in Barberton, Ohio, on August 7, 1925, the eldest daughter of the late Roy S. and Myrtle G. Rupert Bradley.Helen graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1945 and immediately entered Nurses training at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital as a member of the Army Nurses Corp. where she received her RN degree and she also trained in Washington, D.C. She retired from Camden Clark in 1985 and then worked at Ohio Valley Health Care. She was a longtime member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and was currently a member of the Word of God Ministries. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her pets. She enjoyed music especially Gospel music.Helen had a pen-pal from Wray, Colorado, Bessie Dent, whom she had corresponded with since the 5th grade and up until Christmas, 2011.She is survived by her husband whom she married October 10, 1948, Robert Clyde Wolverton; three sons, Stephen Wolverton, James Wolverton and Thomas Wolverton all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a sister, Velda J. (Gene) Jones of Cedar Grove, W.Va.; her niece, Rebecca (Jeff) Martin and their children, Mariah, Nick (Sarah) and twins, Abby and Sadie; and her niece, Andrea (Alan) Sinnett and their sons, Philip and Andrew.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Rupert Eugene Bradley.Private funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Word of God Ministries, Route 47, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Lynn Roush officiating. Interment will follow at Hartley Cemetery in Wirt County, W.Va. Public visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va.
