Helen Rose Balint Borkowski of Vienna, died January 5, 2021 in Parkersburg. She was born February 15, 1929 in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Helen R. Balint. She graduated high school from the First Catholic Slovak Girls Academy in Danville, PA. She made her home in Parkersburg since 1956. Helen was active in the Saint Margaret Mary PTO and served as President of the Parkersburg Catholic Women’s Auxiliary. Later in life she worked at Walker in Parkersburg until her retirement. She was an advocate for her children and grandchildren, attending many athletic and school events over the years. She is survived by her eight children, Joseph and Sharyn Borkowski of Macungie, PA, Mary and Emmett Hendershot of St. Clairsville, OH, Edward and Arlene Borkowski of Vienna, Monica and Ken Davis of Parkersburg, Greg Borkowski of Napoleon, OH, Steve and Kathy Borkowski of Newburgh, IN, Tom Borkowski of Dripping Springs, TX and Marilyn and Ed Schreckengost of Mineral Well; her brother, Raymond Balint; her grandchildren, Angela Blasiski (Jeff), Stephen Borkowski (Kristen), Matthew Borkowski (Vera), Angela Hendershot, Marissa Hendershot, Eric Borkowski (Erin), Andrew Borkowski, David Borkowski (Lindsay), Andrea Borkowski (Paul), Sara Borkowski, Michael Borkowski (Loni), Elizabeth Borkowski (James), Dan Borkowski, Alex Schreckengost, Emily Schreckengost, Bobby Schreckengost, and Joni Schreckengost; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ambrose; her brother, Frank Balint; sister, Kate Dunmire; and grandson, Nathan Hendershot. The family would like to thank Mike Miller and the team at Ohio Valley Health Care for the loving care they have provided to our Mother. Due to Covid a private family mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father John Rice as Celebrant. Burial will be held at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. A memorial service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to the Matthew 25 Food Cupboard c/o St. Margaret Mary Church, 2500 Dudley Ave., Parkersburg, WV 26101 or the Stone Soup Kitchen, 532 Market St. Parkersburg, WV 26101.
