Wilson, went to meet his Lord on January 1, 2014, at the West Virginia Masonic Home on Garfield Avenue, in Parkersburg, West Virginia., surrounded by those who had cared for him over the past two years. He was 89 years old and was born March 22, 1924, in Greenwood, W.Va., the son of the late Everett C. Wilson and the late Lucy O. Waldo Wilson.He is survived by his son, Harold W. “Woody” Wilson, Jr. and his wife, Carol of Tempe, Arizona; his grandson, Scott Triplett Wilson of Gainesville, Florida; his adopted son, Stephen H. Wilson; and his stepson, William Gregory Cox and his wife, Kim; his step-grandchildren, Sierra Cox and Wesley Cox; his sister, Susie Carol Stabl; and several nieces and nephews.He graduated from Parkersburg High School with the class of 1941 and later served in the United States Army Air Corps for three years where he flew 50 missions as a tail gunner with the 424th Bomb Squadron of the 307th Bomb Group, 13th Air Force, Southwest Pacific Theater, and was discharged June 1, 1945.His pre-law education was received at Marietta College; he entered West Virginia College of Law in September 1947 and graduated June 5, 1950 with a degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence.He entered the private practice of law in Parkersburg, West Virginia in June of 1950 and had been actively practicing law until the time of his retirement December 31, 2009 at the age of 85.He was a life member of the American Bar Association, the West Virginia Bar Association and the West Virginia State Bar and was Past President of the Wood County Bar Association.He was a life member of BPOE Lodge 198 and was a member of the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Mount Olivet Lodge No. 3, Scottish Rite 18 Parkersburg, West Virginia, Scottish Rite 32 Wheeling, Jerusalem Chapter No. 3 RAM, Parkersburg, West Virginia, Marietta Shrine Club, Marietta, Ohio, Calvary Commandery No. 3 Knights Templar, Parkersburg, West Virginia, Nemesis Shrine Temple, Parkersburg, West Virginia and was a life member and Past Director of Jesters Court No. 156, Royal Order of Jesters, Parkersburg, West Virginia.He served as Trustee of Masonic Fraternities, Inc. and Mt. Olivet Cemetery Association and was an avid outdoorsman.He bred, raised and trained English Setter bird dogs and actively engaged in hunting and field trialing for many years and served as President of the Blennerhassett Field and Gun Club and was a Past President of the West Virginia Wildlife Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.In addition to his mother and father, he was predeceased by a brother, Delbert W. Wilson; a sister, Dorothy L. Wilson; and a son, Glen Triplett Wilson.The family would like to thank Carmen Leavitt and the employees of the West Virginia Masonic Home for their care over the past two years.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor John Strimer officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Mausoleum with Masonic graveside rites and full military rites by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
