He was born June 15, 1923 in Parkersburg, WV, the son of Abe and Gladys Lemley.He attended Parkersburg High School and served in the United States Navy aboard the USS West Virginia serving in the South Pacific where his ship was involved in the Iwo Jima battle. He retired from Johns Manville in 1985 after 30 years of service. As a 32nd degree Mason, he enjoyed activities with his fellow Masons at the Vienna Masonic Lodge. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church for many years and recently attended Narrow Gate Baptist Church.He was the beloved father of Gregory Hill Lemley and wife Melody of Vienna and Sherri Dianne Stanley and husband Shannon of Dayton, VA who survive. He was PaPa to four grandchildren, Tiffani Fuster and husband Marco of Waynesboro, VA., Jason Stanley of Charleston, S.C., Brian Lemley of Vienna and Christy LeMaster and husband Rick of Vienna. He also had four great grandchildren, Micah, Noah, and Sarah Grace Fuster and Brooklyn LeMaster, and several nieces and nephews.Also surviving are three sisters, Wilmadean Wilson, Linda Vannoy and Evelyn Davis, one brother, Carl Lemley, one brother-in-law, Phillip Hill and wife Janet, and a special companion and caregiver, Velma Jones Shook.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mariette Hill Lemley, three sisters, Dorothy Flanagan, Shirley Naylor, and Margaret Cline and two brothers, Fred Lemley and Herman Lemley.Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 Saturday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Pastor Steve States officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery with Military gravesite rites by American Legion Post 15.
