The link is under his picture.Old cowboys never die they just ride off into the sunset.Gordon Smith Monroe 73, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away November 29, 2012 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.He was born December 9, 1938 in Roane County, W.Va., a son of the late Smith Preston and Dora Myers Monroe.Gordon was a self employed Home Builder starting his construction business in 1970 and retired from it in 2001. He was a member of the Mid-Ohio Valley Home Builders, had served on the Vienna Planning Commision Board, was Co-Owner of Vienna Builders Supply in the 1960's, started We'll Hold It Self Storage in 1985, was a partner in Parkland Development in 1972 and helped build several sub-divisions, was Builder of the Year in 1988 and started We'll Hold It Rentals Inc. (Central Mini Mart “B.P.”) in 1990.Gordon loved going to the family farm in Ritchie Co., enjoyed Old Country Music, watching westerns and riding four wheelers.He enjoyed being a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and loved his church family.He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia “Pat” Ferrell Monroe; one daughter, Karen J. Monroe Meyers and husband, Don of Dundee, New York; one son, Gordon S. Monroe, Jr. and wife, Tanya of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Ashlee Gregory (Michael), Autumn Monroe (Decontee), Jessika Meyers and Kayla Meyers; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Cayden Monroe and Zeon Smith; three step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mae Crislip of Vienna, W.Va., Dorothy Bowen of Lake Placid, Florida, Mary Long of North Carolina, and Ethel Harris also of Vienna, W.Va.; and one brother, Bill Monroe of Meadville, W.Va.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack and Edd Monroe; and a niece, Tina Mooney.The family wishes to thank William L. Webb, CPA for his kindness and understanding during Gordon's illness, also to their long time special friend Bob Bennett, and to his physician Dr. Dorai Rajan, MD.Funeral service will be held Monday, December 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3300 Rosemar Road, Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Jon Lands officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va.
