Gilbert Arthur Simmons

Gilbert Arthur Simmons, 72 of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away April 18, 2012 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born June 6, 1939 in Parkersburg, son of the late Gilbert Harold and Margaret Golden Simmons. He was a 1958 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He was a member of the Gideons, was past president of the Vienna Civitan Club, and was a long time member of the Parkersburg Choral Society.He retired as an insurance salesman and had worked for Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home with the preneed department. He was a 66 year member of the First Baptist Church of Parkersburg where he sang in the choir. Gilbert is survived by his sister, Sandra Simmons; his niece, Sabrina Henderson both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Simmons; and one sister, Carolyn Simmons Davis. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, at First Baptist Church of Parkersburg in the church chapel with Rev. Rich McClure officiating.Inurnment to follow in the church columnbarium. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home on Green St. is assisting the family with arrangements.
