George Edward Riel

George Edward “Dune” Riel, 78, of Parkersburg, W.Va., was carried away by Heaven's angels to be with the Lord on March 30, 2011.He was born a son of the late James W. and Ruth M. Gandee Riel.George is survived by one sister, Mary Nicholson (Roger) of Fleming, Ohio; three sons, Roger Riel, Gary Riel and Stacy Riel; five daughters, Sally (Anderson) Rasmussen, Cheryl Burks, Carol Williams, Cinda Cottrille and Kelly Hall; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Austine Rowley Riel; three brothers; one sister; a grandson, Jamie Riel; and great-granddaughter, Kylie Knight.George served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Sheet Metal International Local 33 after 40 years of service. He was an avid hunter and pro bass fisherman.Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Tim Burch officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen North Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
