Gary Lee Varner

Gary Lee Varner, 58 of Williamstown, W.Va. passed away April 7, 2013 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.He was born June 9, 1954 in Parkersburg, W.Va. and grew up in Cairo, W.Va. a son of the late Wilson and Juanita Bunner Varner. He was a graduate of Akron High School in Akron, Ohio and retired from Elkem Metals. he enjoyed hunting and fishing in Calhoun County with friends and family. He loved his family and grandchildren and was a Methodist by faith.Gary is survived by his wife, Mary M. Greathouse Varner; a daughter, Tina Fordyce of Petroleum, W.Va.; two sons, Jeffery A. Varner and Lee D. Varner of Cairo, W.Va.; a sister, Judy Cunningham (Ed) of Harrisville, W.Va.; three brothers, Wilson James Varner (Linda) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Robert Varner (Sheila) of Richmond, VA, and David R. Varner (Rosa) of Cairo, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Russell Eugene Rhodes, a brother, Lloyd Varner; and four sisters, Lucille Metz, Shirley Mahaney and twin infant sisters.Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. Following visitation there will be a balloon release in Gary's memory at 8:00 p.m. There will be no services.
