Garland A. Ferrell, 85, beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away on May 6, 2014 at his Parkersburg home.He was born in South Charleston, W.Va. on Feb. 2, 1929 to Elzie W. and Martha McCallister Ferrell.Garland was a member of the Eighteenth Street United Baptist Church in Huntington. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from C&P Telephone Company and also worked for Hertz.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lorraine Adkins Ferrell; daughter, Brenda Stephens and son, Ronald Allen Ferrell; brothers, Walter Ferrell (Ruth) of Charleston, W.Va., Charles Ferrell (Judy) of Winfield, W.Va., Wayne Saunders (Claudette) of St. Albans, W.Va., Lacy Saunders (Jean) 0f Pamplico SC., John Ferrell (Sandra) of Tad, W.Va., andGlen Ferrell (Patsy) of Cross Lanes, W.Va.; sisters, Ruth Cogan of St. Albans, W.Va., Goldia Raines (Phil) of Charleston, W.Va., and Agatha Bono (Henry) also of St. Albans, W.Va.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Ferrell Pinson; brothers, WillardP. Ferrell and Norman E. Ferrell; and his stepmother, Mary Saunders Ferrell.Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and TLC In Home Care Services for their wonderful care.A service will be held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville, W.Va. Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Howard Watson officiating.
