Freda Swiger Cumpston, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away June 1, 2012 at the Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility.She was born November 2, 1917 in Wetzel County, W.Va. She was the daughter of the late William Jordan and Dollia Edgell Swiger.She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Leeman Charles Cumpston; two daughters, Doris Imogene Weary and Bertha Lee Leggett Burch; two daughter-in-laws, Sara Lou Gum Cumpston and Sonja Smiley Cumpston; one grandson, Kenneth Cumpston; sisters, Lora Powell, Mildred Wilson, Lenora Dotson, and Louise Golden;brothers, Harry Swiger, Ralph Swiger, Kinzy Swiger, and Kenneth Swiger.Freda is survived by her sons, Charles Fredrick Cumpston (Cherrie) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Ronald Dale Cumpston (Jackie) of Beavercreek, Ohio and Norman Guy Cumpston (Carolyn) of Waverly, W.Va.; one sister, Genevieve Heckert; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.Freda was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Vienna.With heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers at Eagle Pointe Facility, Hospice of Parkersburg, special friends, Dave Cumpston, Betty Fisher, and her pastor, Rev. Jim Yoak. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Jim Yoak and Pastor Dave Cumpston officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Freeman Cemetery, Doddridge County, WV. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the activities department at Eagle Pointe.
