Franklin W. Anderson 86, of Williamstown passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014. He was the son of the late Elva P. and Garnet P. Oliver Anderson.He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Navy. Returning home he then married his wife of 61 years, Mary Sue Parsons Anderson. After the Navy he worked for the Union Barge Line and later the Dravo Pipe Fabricating Co. retiring in 1990.He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5108 of Marietta, Ohio and the American Legion. He also had been a member of the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department serving for 35 years. He was well known for his art work especially of the community he loved, Williamstown, and it's historical buildings and homes, donating many to charity for fund raising efforts. Following his wishes he will be cremated. Besides his wife he is survived by his special sister-in-law, Betty Beardsley of Williamstown; and special niece, Linda Petriken; and nephew, Rick Petriken of Marietta, Ohio as well as a number of other nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Merrow; and two brothers, Arthur Z. and Warren D. Anderson.A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department.
