Frances Leona Christopher, 82, of Washington, W.Va., passed away peacefully on January 28, 2012 at her daughter's residence where she had been residing.Frances was born July 6, 1929, in Smithburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lessel Guy Davisson and Ruby McKitrick Davisson Hart.She was a homemaker and had retired from the former Dils Department Store of downtown Parkersburg. She enjoyed cooking and baking, as well as crocheting afghans and other gifts for her family. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving is one daughter, Carla Shockey (Christopher) and husband Greg, with whom she has been residing, of Washington, W.Va.; one son, Robert Christopher and wife Gwyn (Brenneman) of Bettendorf, Iowa; grandchildren, Amanda Shockey of Washington, W.Va., Seth Shockey and wife Marissa also of Washington, W.Va., and Ian Christopher of Bettendorf, Iowa; one great-grandson, Xander Michael Shockey; one sister, Mary Davisson Schofield Fouts and husband Ken of Westlake, OH; one brother, Russell Davisson and wife Nancy of North Olmsted, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Dot Christopher DeLong of Parkersburg, W.Va.; numerous nieces and nephews; and Trace, Jaide, and Caitlyn, who were also a big part of her life. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wayne Christopher in April 1997; and three sisters, Shirley Rose Davisson, Evelyn “Toots” Davisson Stewart, and Dorothy Davisson Flesher.Graveside services will be conducted 11AM Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Evergreen South Cemetery, with Evangelist Joe Spivy officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 5-7PM on Tuesday January 31, 2012, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg.The family would appreciate memorial contributions being directed to Amedysis Hospice, 417 Grand Park Dr., Suite 206, Parkersburg, WV, 26101.The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Becky and the staff of Amedysis Hospice for the wonderful care given to Frances.
