Florence Eloise Gates, 96, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away August 19, 2014 at Eagle Pointe.She was born March 18, 1918, the daughter of the late Artie Brookover.Eloise briefly worked at American Viscose before marrying Ralph Gates on November 26, 1936. They were married 54 years at the time of Ralph's passing in 1991. Eloise enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching the birds and squirrels that came to her feeders, going for drives in the country, a hot cup of coffee, and her cat, Dumpy.Eloise is survived by two sons, Ray Gates and wife, Sheila, Darrell Gates and wife, JoAnn; one daughter, Linda Ball and husband, Gordon, who was like a son to her, all from Parkersburg, W.Va.; one brother, Bill Brookover of Vienna, W.Va.; and a sister, Ilene Hunt of Parkersburg. She had 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and nine great, great-grandchildren with two more due later this year.In addition to her husband Ralph, she was preceded in death by one daughter Jeanie Jones; and a son-in-law Bill Jones; three brothers, Milford Chichester, Bob Brookover and Jim Brookover; and one infant great great-grandson.The family wishes to thank the many special caregivers at Eagle Pointe that cared for Florence Eloise. You all know who you are and we appreciate how much attention you paid to her.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna with Rev. Sandy Runion officiating. Graveside service will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown, W.Va.Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to your local animal shelter or food bank.
