Ernie Clark, 72, took his heavenly flight to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012.He was resting at home in Belpre, surrounded by his family, when he was called home.Ernie was born on March 11, 1940 in Portland, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Daisy Watson Clark. He was a graduate of Belpre High School with the class of '58. He worked at Suburban Motor Freight for 23 years and retired from Yellow Motor Freight after 43 years of driving truck in the local area. He received the “Truck Driver of the Year” award from the state of West Virginia in 1996. Ernie was a fun loving guy who knew no strangers. He enjoyed camping, bowling, NASCAR, gospel sings and auctions. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.Ernie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ellen Faye Holbert Clark; two sons, Wayne Clark (wife, Carol) and Eric Clark (wife, Jennifer); seven grandchildren, Wayne, William, Staci, Austin, Joshua, Sara, and Elliott; and younger sister, Kathy Clark McDaniel.In addition to his parents, Ernie is preceded in death by his three older brothers, Ralph Jr., Charles and Jimmy.Friends may call on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd, Belpre, Ohio. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Tom Butterfield, Ernie's high school friend, will be conducting theservice. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery on Route 339.Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Marietta Home Care and Hospice.
