Edwin D. “Ed” Seymour, Sr., 71, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at Camden-Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus. He was born February 3, 1940 in Canton, Ohio, a son of the late William D. Seymour, Sr. and Virginia Dodd Seymour. He was a 1957 graduate of Parkersburg High School and attended W.Va. State College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965.He was retired from E.I. DuPont Company after 34 years of service. After retirement, Ed joined the staff of Lambert-Tatman Funeral Homes. His pleasant personality, quick wit and smile were appreciated by the staff and the families that he served. He was a member of the North Parkersburg Kiwanis Club, was past State Governor of Kiwanis International and was bestowed the honor of The George F. Hixson Fellowship of Kiwanis International. He was a member of the Parkersburg Housing Authority Board and was a longtime member of the Zion Baptist Church. Ed enjoyed all sports. He is survived by his wife, Rose M. Kanney Seymour, whom he married in January of 1967; one son, Edwin D. Seymour, Jr. (Lori) of Pittsburgh, Penn.; two daughters, Alisha M. Seymour and Jennifer L. Seymour both of Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Marilyn Hatch of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, William D. Seymour, Jr. (Patricia) of Dayton, Ohio, and Jonathan S. Seymour (Chata) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Jacob and Sydney Seymour and Taylor Higgins; an adopted granddaughter, Morgan Huff; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Osborne Seymour; one niece, Angela Seymour; and one nephew, LaMar Kanney. Funeral services for Ed will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. George E. Daniels, II, Dr. Charles Grays, the Rev. Deborah Watt, and the Rev. James Galbreath officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by American Legion, Parkersburg Post 15 prior to services at the church Tuesday. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
