Edward Duane “Whitey” Evans Sr., 83 of Davisville, W.Va. has gone home to be with the Lord, July 14, 2011 at his residence. He was born May 27, 1928 in Gay, W.Va., a son of the late William and Ora Mae Carpenter Evans. He was a US Army Air Force veteran. Whitey retired from the West Side School District in Aurora, Illinois. After retirement he worked as a driver for JR's Donuts, worked at the Senior Citizen's Center, and the DAV in Parkersburg where he was a lifetime member. He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Illinois (32nd Degree) and a member of the Nemesis Shrine. Whitey is survived by his wife, Sandra Christopher Evans; eight children, Edward D. Evans, Jr. (Doris) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Pamela Braden (Chuck) of Belpre, Ohio, Thomas Evans (Mary) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Paula Uppole (Al) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Timmy Evans (Cindy) of Little Hocking, Ohio, Tony Ray Evans of California, John Evans of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Amanda Roberts (Jeremy) of Davisville, W.Va.; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and long time friend, Ethel Parsons; a daughter, Myrna Margo Evans; two grandsons, Edward Wayne Evans, and Joshua Ray Uppole; great-grandson, Stephen Russell Parsons; five brothers, Oren, Henry, John, Clelly, and Rex Evans; and four sisters, Geraldine Evans, Lula Parsons, Irene Lockhart, and Iris Genevieve Wright. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Jack Brown officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
