Edith Lorraine Gilmore

Edith L. Gilmore, 87, of Washington, WV, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, at The Willows Center. She was born March 26, 1937 to the late John N. and Lillian A. Rice Wyckoff.

Edith was employed by the Bureau of Public Debt for several years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Parkersburg. She was a kind and caring Christian woman who was loved by her family, neighbors, and friends. She enjoyed shopping, going to lunch, and traveling. She was a sports enthusiast, and especially enjoyed WVU sports.

She is survived by her brother, Frank Raber of Jewett, OH; two nieces, Debbie Costley of Jewett, OH and Jennifer Costley (Judith Turkel) of Olivebridge, NY; several great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Beth and Chris Baker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald G. Gilmore; two sisters, Pauline Costley and Opal Kendall; and a nephew, Donald Kendall.

Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, with Pastors Judy Bartlett-Tomes and David Carrico officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Finch, WV. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, family requests all memorials be mailed to the Humane Society of Parkersburg or First Baptist Church of Parkersburg.
