Donald Lee Rice, 72 of Vienna, W.Va. passed away November 9, 2011 at Camden-Clark Medical Center, St. Joseph's Campus.He was born March 29, 1939 in Washington, W.Va., a son of the late Ernest A. and Garnet L. Flinn Rice.Donald was a 1959 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He was a member of Local 22 Aluminum, Brick and Glass Workers Union and retired after 30 years of service at Johns Manville. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he was instrumental in starting the Men's Prayer Breakfast and was head usher. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed feeding and watching birds. He loved serving others which included supplying firewood to the homeless and various fundraising activities.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane Friedlander Rice; one son, Kevin Rice and wife, Genny of Belpre, Ohio; one daughter, Kecia Nutter and husband, Paul David II of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Ernestine Conger of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Rice of Phoenix, AR; three grandchildren, Jerri Lynn, Evan, and Brandon; four great-granddaughters; and his Schnauzer, Prissy. In addition to his parents he was preceded death by one son, Jeffrey Rice in 2008; and a brother, Rev. Ernest G. Rice. A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Jon Lands and Rev. Fred Hagedorn officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
