Donald Max Dunbar

The link is below his picture.Donald Max Dunbar, 88, of Mineral Wells, W.Va. passed away on March 3, 2014 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.He was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Wirt County, W.Va., a son of the late Elisha Otis and Mary Otie Westfall Dunbar.Don was a graduate of Wirt County High School and a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1944 to 1946. He worked at American Viscose in 1947 and attended lead burning school there. In 1951 he went on the road as a lead burner from plant to plant in the U.S. In 1965 he went to work at Marbon. He left Marbon in 1975 and spent his time as a farmer until his death. He was a member of Sams Creek Baptist Church.He was a horseman with much talent. He also was a horseshoer and shod his last horse at age 85. He was past President of the WV Quarter Horse Association and past President of the Wood Co. Horse Riding Club. Until last year Don enjoyed riding and camping with friends. He was “the life of the party”, a farmer, but most of all a “Cowboy”!He is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, N. Cleora “Dottie” Gain Dunbar; a brother, Carroll L. (Edith) Dunbar; two sisters, Dorothy (Von) Smith and Doris N. Brannon; several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly; and many very special friends.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred M. George; infant sister, Rosie Alice; four brothers, Mayford F. Dunbar, Worthy I. “Sonny” Dunbar, Forrest L. Dunbar and twin, Foster O. Dunbar.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Robert Watkins officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
