Delbert Dean Drake

Delbert “DJ” Dean Drake, 40, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 22, 2011. He was born March 1, 1970, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of Delbert Sr. and Rozanna “Rose” Smith Drake of Elizabeth, W.Va. DJ was employed as a welding supervisor with Sommerville Fabricator Inc. of Mineral Wells. He was a 1988 graduate of Parkersburg South High School and was a firm believer in hard work. He enjoyed trips to the mountains, nature, and especially enjoyed spending time with his dearest son, Nathan. In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving wife, Patti Sue Nunn Drake; his son, Nathan Drake of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Tammy Drake and a special friend Cathy Ferree of Vienna, W.Va.; one brother, Jason Drake and wife Penny of Elizabeth, W.Va.; two nephews, Kyle Drake of Elizabeth, W.Va. and Cody Adkins of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and four step-children, Michelle Sturm of Parkersburg, W.Va., James Mallabone of North Carolina, and Joshua and Justin Wendelken, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.In addition to his maternal and paternal grandparents, he was preceded in death by his aunts. Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Thursday January 27, 2011, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Pastor David Stilgenbauer officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-8PM on Wednesday January 26, 2011, and two hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund for contributions has been set up at Traders Bank of Mineral Wells for those considering an expression of sympathy.
