Darrell Eugene Turner, 74, of Washington, W.Va. passed away at his residence September 5, 2011, following a long illness.He was born January 24, 1937, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Howard W. and Ruth Lockhart Turner Mason.Darrell was a graduate with Parkersburg High School class of 1956.He retired from E.I. Dupont, Washington Works.He was a member of Christ Mission Baptist Church and was instrumental in refurbishing and erecting the church bell and burying the time capsule at South Parkersburg Baptist Church.He enjoyed making baskets and genealogy.He was active is Scouting for several years and was a former scout master.He is survived by his wife, Jackie Huffman Turner; one daughter, Julie Turner Hill (Timothy) of Clarksburg, W.Va.; one son, Melvin E. Turner (Cindy) of Vienna; one sister, Judy Turner Trainum (Jerry) of Pocahontas, TN; five grandchildren, Meredith Hill Rogers, Thaddeus J. Hill, and Jacob K. Hill, of Clarksburg, Shanell D. Turner of Mineral Wells, Megan M. Turner of Vienna; several nieces and nephews; and three step-sons, Randall Huffman (Cindy) of Boca Raton, FL, Ronald Huffman (Sheila) and Richard Huffman (Teresa), both of Washington, W.Va.; three step-grandchildren, Brittany Huffman of Parkersburg, Nicole Huffman of Boca Raton, FL and Ronald Huffman II of Washington, W.Va.He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Lona Burge Turner.Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastors Joe Busch and Mark Watkins officiating.Interment at Evergreen South Cemetery.Friends may call from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
