Claude W. Buckley

Claude W. Buckley, 82, of Belleville, W.Va., passed away on July 19, 2012 at his home after an extended illness.He was born May 25, 1930 and was a son of the late Harrison and Lena Bennett Buckley.Claude was a graduate of Parkersburg High School where he played baseball and was a member of the Big Red Band. He attended Marietta College.He served several years in the U.S. Air Force then was employed by E.I. Dupont Washington Works until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Christ and worshipped with the Hopewell Congregation. He was an outdoor person who loved hunting, fishing and farming. In earlier years he played baseball for the military and a Parkersburg City league. Claude was a good husband and father and he will be sadly missed.Surviving is his wife, Dolores Rice Buckley; two daughters, Vickie (David) St. Clair and Debbie (Dan) Strahler; six grandchildren, Scott, Tara and Joel St. Clair, Rachel (Josh) Meek, Megan (Jamie Lang), and Andrew Strahler; four great-grandchildren, Jadelynne, Jaymison, Braylon and Brooklynne; and one niece.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dexter; two aunts; two uncles; all his first cousins; and one nephew.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va., with Randy Baker and Andy Robison officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to Amedysis Hospice.
