Charles Wayne Stanley

Charles “Wayne” Stanley, 53 of Walker, W.Va. passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.He was born July 21, 1960 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of Mary Ellen Fleming Stanley of Waverly, W.Va. and the late Charles G. “Sonny” Stanley.Wayne was retired from the local 80 Asbestos Workers Union. He was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and 4-wheel riding.In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica Stanley and her mother, Kelly Jo Lee of Davisville, W.Va.; his grandmother, Mary “Jo” Stanley of Parkersburg; three sisters, Tammy Elder of Davisville, W.Va., Vonda Dodrill (Bob) and Shawna Curfman (Kevin) all of Waverly; six brothers, Greg Stanley (Kristine) and Jim Lyons (Teresa) all of Waverly, Fred Stanley (Anna) of Pennsboro, W.Va., Carl Stanley of Waverly, Brian Stanley (Gift) of North Carolina, and Ryan Stanley (Rachel) of Waverly; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.In addition to his father, Wayne was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Johnson “Snuffy” and Arvilla Fleming; and his paternal grandfather, Charles “Doc” Stanley.Per Wayne's wishes, there will be no public services. A private memorial service will be held in July at his cabin in the mountains.Memorial donations may be made to the Parkersburg Humane Society in Wayne's memory.
