Jesus opened his arms and welcomed Carolyn Ann Twyman home to be with her family and friends, on Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Camden-Clark Medical Center Memorial Campus.She had a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her sister and caregiver was at her bedside. Carolyn's Legacy is one of courage, grit and sheer determination in facing her own illness. Her faith gave her strength to face the challenges of her treatment. But she never forgot to ask about and pray for others. She was born in Parkersburg, W.Va. on June 14, 1946, the eldest daughter of the late Opal L. (Bailey) and Kenneth B. Somerville of Palestine, W.Va.She was always proud to be from Wirt County, W.Va. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. Twyman of Vienna, W.Va.; her sister, Doris Kay Twyman of Parkersburg, W.Va.; nieces, Cathy Ann Meese and husband, John and Kelsey and Sydney McPhail of Missouri City, TX, and Christy Durnell-Goddard and husband, John and Sean Durnell, Zachary, Jacob, and Joshua Goddard all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; her foster brother, Daniel J. Tanner and wife, Evelyn of King, NC; her step son-in-law, Kenneth R. Bungard and two step-grandchildren, Ryan E. Bungard and wife, Brittany and Ariel Bungard.Carolyn was a member of the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Elizabeth, WV and an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 15, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1212 and Eagles Aerie 2307.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Ruth M. Bungard on July 12, 2008.The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the doctors and nurses and their staff who cared for her battle with cancer, Nik Shah, Thomas A. Durnell, John A. Goddard, Bhailal Gondalia, the late Robert Rudolph, and also her angel, Donna Adams.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Robert P. May officiating. Interment will follow at the Palestine Cemetery, Thorne Addition, Palestine, W.Va. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
