Carol Holbert, 81, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away at his residence surrounded by his family Saturday, July 6, 2013.He was born October 5, 1931 in Wood County, W.Va., a son of Elizabeth Hale Holbert of Rockport, W.Va. and the late Earl J. Holbert.Carol served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, retired from Elkem Metals, was a member of the Mt. Olive #3 Lodge, Ben Bey Grotto, Kentucky Colonial Club, American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg, AMVETS, DAV and VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting brush, raising cattle and farming.In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Lucy Smith Holbert; three daughters, Debbie Conrad (B.J.), Teresa Nuzum (Samuel) and Mary JoAnn Bennett (Albert) all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four sons, John Holbert of Roanoke, Va., Kenneth Holbert (Glada Scott) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Raymond Holbert (Melody) of Mineral Wells, W.Va., and Daniel Holbert (Tammy) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Nina Mae Smith of Elizabeth, W.Va., and Juanita Buckbee of Rockport, W.Va.; three brothers, Paul Holbert of Pettyville, W.Va., Harold Holbert, and Chester Holbert both of Rockport, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Lillian Lutton; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his father; one son, David Holbert; and one brother, Emil Holbert.Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg,W.Va. with Pastor Bud Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen North Cemetery with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p,.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
