Carl Upton Stemple

Carl U. Stemple 82, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went home to be with his Lord January 6, 2012 at Camden-Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.Carl was born April 26, 1929 in Clarksburg, W.Va., the son of the late Leonard Ray and Ethel Marie Wagner Stemple. He retired from St. Paul Insurance Company and was a member of North Parkersburg Baptist Church. He also was a member of the North Bend Rail Trail Assoc. and a past member of Ambucs. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golf, gardening, and spending time with his family around the pool. Carl graduated from Fairmont State College and was a (sergeant), drill instructor in the U.S. Air Force.Carl is survived by his wife, Rose Stemple; one daughter, Diane Swearingen and husband, Doug of Vienna, W.Va.; one son, Randy Stemple and wife, Lisa of Pennsboro, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Jason Swearingen and wife, Alicia, Joey Swearingen and wife, Brittani, and Ryan, Tyler, and Jesse Stemple.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Howard and Billy Stemple.Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Michael Towner officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home.Donations may be made to the North Bend Trail Association or the Friendship Kitchen, North Parkersburg Baptist Church.
