Carl Curtis Schott age 85 of Vienna, W.Va. passed away February 10, 2016 at the Ohio Valley Nursing Home. He was born in East Nitro, WV. April 22, 1930 a son of the late Henry A. and Goldendene Hopkins Schott. Carl was a graduate of Parkersburg High School where he was a member of the Big Red Marching Band. He loved music and singing and was a member of the Barbershop Chorus of Marietta, Ohio and his church choir. Carl was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict having served from 1951 to1953 and was retired from E.I. DuPont Washington Works in 1985 after 32yrs. service. He was a member of the Wood Co. Bass Masters Assoc. and loved fishing the Ohio River and other lakes and streams throughout the U.S. and Canada. Carl belonged to Masonic Lodge 172 of Vienna, the Nemesis Shrine, was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, was a former member of the Worthington Senior Golfers Assoc., belonged to the American Legion Post 15 and was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his cat, Oreo. Carl is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jo Ann Summers Schott; a son, Banks Alan and his wife, Tina Cline Schott of Washington, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth Schott of West Liberty, W.Va.; two brothers, Robert H. Schott (Glenna) and James S. Schott all of Vienna; two sisters, Naomi Keller of Vienna and Angela O'Rear of Spartanburg, South Caroline; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Henry, Charles and Earl Schott; and one sister, Lois Shuman. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday February 15, 2016 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave . Vienna, W.Va. with Rev. Greg Markins officiating. Full military rites by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg will be observed at the the funeral home. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Evergreen South Cemetery with Masonic Rites at the convenience of the family. Carl's family wish's to express sincere gratitude to Mike Miller and the entire staff of the Ohio Valley Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to him during his illness and stay there. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Good Samaritan Center, Wayside U. M. Church, 3001 Grand Central Ave, 26105 or to the Humane Society of Parkersburg, P.O. Box 392, Parkersburg,WV, 26102 in Carl's memory.
