Billie Gene Cook, 75, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away on March 24, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.He was born December 29, 1938, in Mineral Wells, a son of the late William A. Cook and Freda Belle Lake Cook Slack.Billie graduated from Parkersburg High School and retired from E. I. Dupont in 1997. For many years he was a member of First Sams Creek Baptist Church where he served as treasurer and deacon. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Captain James Neal Chapter and was a member of the Color Guard.He loved airplanes and was a pilot. Billie was a very caring and kind, loving person.He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Nettie Elaine Modesitt Brown Cook; two sons, Douglas Cook (Brenda) and Robert Cook (Tina), both of Mineral Wells; one daughter, Rhea Hinman (Tommy) of Crisfield, Md.; step-children, Glenn Brown, Larry Brown, and Donald Brown (Tamara); grandchildren, Morgan Cook, Kayla Cook, Emily Cook, Ryan, Cook, Justin Boswell and Cody Boswell; step-grandchildren, Katherine Brown, Cassandra Brown, Kyle Duley (Heather Radcliff) and their daughter, Kylie Rae Duley, Ashley Hinman and her son, Linwood Lee, Jr.; sisters, Denise Miller (Bob) and Phyllis McCord (Jeff), both of Mineral Wells, and Janice Morehead (Edward) of Byron, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Brown Cook; sister, Lois Shrubb; infant brother, Charles; and infant grandson, Billie Carl Boswell.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St.Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastors Carl Radcliff, Robert Watkins and Shawn Brannon officiating. Interment will follow at Sams Cemetery, Missouri Run Road, Mineral Wells, W.Va. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
