Betty Lou Johnston, 58, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Sept. 2, 2011 at Worthington Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born Jan. 19, 1953 in Parkersburg, a daughter of Herbert C. Johnston Sr. and the late Betty Mae Morehead Johnston. Betty had been employed with Dollar General and was a lover of cats. Her love for cats developed into being an advocate for the nutrition and care of stray cats. She was also involved in the Save a Kitty Foundation, which cared for and spayed stray cats. She was an avid reader and frequently donated books for others to enjoy. Betty also enjoyed drawing and was active at the Beechwood Presbyterian Church. In addition to her father, she is survived by two brothers, John Johnston of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Carl Johnston of Ravenswood, W.Va.; one special sister, Bobette Grimm of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one niece; and two nephews. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Johnston. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Rev. Jim Lynch officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Save a Kitty Foundation or to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
