Bertram Connell Watson

Bertram Connell Watson, 90, died April 17, 2012 at Camden-Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus. He was born January 18, 1922, in Belpre, Ohio, a son of the late Delmer Posey Watson and Bessey Cillis Watson.Bert was a 1939 graduate of Belpre High School and always enjoyed the alumni gatherings of his class. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S.Navy where he served throughout World War II in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific.Upon return to civilian life, he was an enthusiastic amateur pilot.Most of his working life was spent in sales. His last association was with the General Sales Company, Inc. of Ashland, Kentucky.Mr. Watson was a Unitarian Universalist by faith. He was a member of American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5108 in Marietta, Ohio and the U.S.S. Laffey DD 724 Association. He served aboard the Laffey on the D-Day assault at Normandy.Bert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alden Cillis Watson, who died serving with General Patton's 35th Tank Batallion in World War II.He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Chambers) Watson and feline friend “Katy”.In keeping with his wishes, no viewing or services will be held. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. is handling his arrangements.People wishing to remember Bert, may do so by a contribution to the Humane Society of Parkersburg or a charity of their choice.
