Bernie L. Doak

Bernie L. Doak, 82, of McConnelsville, OH, went home to her Lord on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born June 6, 1938, in Birmingham, AL, a daughter of the late John Talmadge and Emma Lou Ella Ford Hudspeth. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1956 and St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1959. She was a nurse at Selby Hospital for many years and a homemaker. She taught all of us how to love and give. Whether it was being a foster parent or volunteering for the Beverly-Waterford Squad or helping with her church. She gave us all great advice and always was there for someone in need. She taught us all how to be better people. She was also a Mt. Moriah #506 Eastern Star member. She is survived by her children, Eric Doak (Anne Cooper) of St. Charles, MO, Christopher Doak (Johanna) of Waterford, OH, Diane Hershman of Belpre, OH and Thomas Doak (Lois) of Waterford, OH; two brothers, Allen Hudspeth (Connie) of Florida and John Hudspeth (Jan) of Marietta. She is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and also a dear friend, Mary Mason. In addition to her parents, Bernie was preceded in death by her husband, Alph Ford Doak; granddaughter, Michelle Renee Waggoner; brother, David Hudspeth; sister, Jane McKenna; and son-in-law, Michael Hershman. There will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg is assisting the family.
