Barbara Diane Sams, 63, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away March 15, 2012 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.Va.She was born August 19, 1948 in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Earl Lewis and Edna Bailey Riffle. Barbara had retired from Arlington Personal Care following twenty-seven years of service as a Nurses Aide. She enjoyed bingo and especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Parkersburg Fraternal Order of Eagles and was a longtime member of the Grace Bretheran Church. Surviving is her son, Troy R. Sams (Rebecca) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Beverly Graham (Steven) also of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one brother, Tim Riffle of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Amber Johnson and Tawna and Nina Sams; four great-grandchildren, Adin and Miles Johnson, Austin Sams, and Donovan Delnay; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Sams in October 2001; and her daughter, Kimberly D. Sams. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be directed to your local volunteer fire department or the American Breast Cancer Society.
