Arlis William Cox, 88, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Ohio Valley Health Care.He was born May 25, 1924 in Elizabeth, W.Va., a son of the late Russell W. and Anna S. Fox Cox.Arlis retired from Broughton's Dairy after 31 years of service. He and his wife, Hazel, owned and operated Snowflake Restaurant for 25 years and he worked for Kroger's for nine years. Arlis was an avid hunter and was a Baptist by faith.He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hazel M. George Cox; three daughters, Betty Watson (Ronald) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Doris Breedlove (George) of Davisville, W.Va. and Debra Sams of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Stephen L. Cox (Leslie) of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William G. Cox; two sisters, Alda Cox and Hilda Gabbert; and six brothers, Forest, Francis, Argyle (his twin brother), Bernard, Grover and Doc Cox.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at theLambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Virgil Beall officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Roane County, W.Va. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association West Virginia Chapter.
