Amy Kathleen “Kak” Board Van Fossen, 88, of Mineral Wells, W.Va. passed away quietly into the early morning on November 21, 2012 to be happily and gloriously reunited with her beloved husband, Edward Pearl Van Fossen who preceded her in death. They were married February 22, 1946. After his death she found comfort and love from her two cats, Mischa and Tinker.“Kak” was born on October 2, 1924 to the late Hollis and Effie (Cox) Board in Gay, W.Va. All who met “Kak” loved her. In her younger years, she was a homemaker and had several small jobs. Her favorite job was working for Parkersburg Medical Associates as a surgery technician until she retired after 23 years.She was also a volunteer at Old Man Rivers Mission. She loved meeting new people and made many friends, including a group of bikers who donated clothes, food, and money to the Mission. At Christmas time each year, the bikers looked forward to Kak's Rum Cakes she baked for them. She also made them for her nephew, Gerald Board and niece, Becky Board Martin. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells, W.Va.She is survived by one son, Roger W. Van Fossen (Cindi) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one daughter, Pamela Lynn Van Fossen Fought (Larry) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; threegrandchildren, R. Scott Van Fossen (Susan), Bonnie Jean Van Fossen Cross (Ronald), and Amy Marie Aucoin (Joseph); 10 great-grandchildren; and two special nieces, Karen Allio Branch and Peggy Allio Flinn.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle Allio and her husband, Floyd; and one brother, Maynard Board and his wife, Bernice Wilkison Board.Private family services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Kevin Lantz officiating. Following services visitation will be open to the public from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral homr.Mrs. Van Fossen has chosen cremation.
